Bathtime adventures

Being so low to the ground Bassets are not the cleanest dogs around. Especially when there is a touch of rain to make the mud pat around our house nice and soft. To keep our hounds looking beautiful the weekly bath is an essential part of our basset routine.

There are some essential tools to successful bathtime with Basset Hounds. A large box in which to contain them, two people to hold them and lots of treats to persuade them that bathtime is in fact a nice experience.

Fortnum loves (well doesn't hate) baths and will sit happily whilst he is beautified. Mason however is a little less patient and would rather be out of the tub than in. As you might imagine there is lots of water splashing around but overall I have to say that our bassets do bathtime pretty well.

After bath its ear cleaning and nail clipping and finally it's time to play and roll in the dirt again!

Fortnum loving his bath.

Mason, not so happy
The two handle grapple usual does the trick with Mason

Brotherly encouragement that bathtime is not that bad!

Big baby Mason getting all the attention with Fortnum insisting that he doesn't get forgotten!

Fortnum looking very handsome
Mason still sulking although much cleaner for the experience
